As a member of the Carolina College Advising Corps at Jordan High School in Durham, Daniel Garcia '21 is helping more high school students see higher education as an option.
Alumnus Tim Walker always knew he wanted to be a teacher. After earning his bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Carolina, followed by a Master of Arts in Teaching at the UNC School of Education, he now teaches social studies at Carrboro High School, building community for the next generation of learners.
Among the honorees is critically acclaimed author and trailblazing public leader Anne-Marie Slaughter, who will also deliver Carolina’s Spring Commencement address.
Carolina junior Rida Bayraktar founded Pink STREAM to educate, motivate, empower and inspire kindergarten through eighth-grade girls in science, technology, robotics, engineering, arts and math.
