A Raleigh native, Brinkley comes to the deanship with 22 years in private practice, most recently as a partner in the firm of Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan, LLP in Raleigh.
UNC-Chapel Hill BOT Chairman Lowry Caudill said the board’s actions make “an unequivocal statement about Carolina’s values and the importance of continuing to cultivate an inclusive and positive educational atmosphere for our campus.”
Mike Smith has been a faculty member in the School of Government since 1978 and dean since 1992.
